Why is my campaign about Responsible Conservatism? Because when red-blooded Texans in Northwest Tarrant County cast their ballots for State Representative they expect – and deserve – principled, conservative, and responsible Republican representation in Austin.
Northwest Tarrant County rightly expects their State Representative to be present to vote.
Northwest Tarrant County rightly expects their State Representative to share their common-sense conservative principles.
And Northwest Tarrrant County rightly expects their State Representative to vote for what is best for Northwest Tarrant County – not for liberal Austin, not for fat-cat special interests, and not for check-slinging lobbyists.
As Young Conservatives of Texas’ (YCT) recently released 81st Session Legislative Ratings shows, Charlie Geren has “gone Austin” and forgotten what’s truly important to Northwest Tarrant County – better schools, well-paying jobs, fewer taxes, more efficient government, family values, and the protection of our God-given liberties.
Charlie has let down conservative Republicans in District 99 – YCT scored Charlie as only 59% conservative for his performance in the 81st Session – and Charlie remains one of three “Certifiable RINO’s” (Republican-In-Name-Only) in the Texas State House. And though he received a failing score this session, Charlie’s 59% score is better than his average. Charlie’s career conservative score from YCT is only 55%.
A 55% conservative score is low. And it is low because time and time again, Charlie has voted against liberty and common-sense conservative principles.
In the 81st session:
Charlie voted FOR restricting and criminalizing free speech (Record Vote #89 and Record Vote #887).
Charlie voted FOR paying state employees with public funds while they volunteered (Record Vote #329).
Charlie voted FOR taking power away from elected officials and letting bureaucrats play political games with our children’s education (Record Vote #332).
Charlie voted AGAINST letting parents decide how and where is best for their children to learn (Record Vote #178).
Charlie voted AGAINST allowing probation officers to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights while on the job (Record Vote #744).
These are just a few of the bad votes that caused Charlie’s failing score and caused Young Conservatives of Texas to declare Charlie Geren a “Certifiable RINO.”
The Vice Chairman of Legislative Affairs for YCT, Tony McDonald, said, “Voters should keep this [RINO's scorecard] in mind as these candidates campaign as ‘Republicans’.”
When discussing this race with family and friends and as you go to the ballot box on March 2nd, I ask you to remember Charlie’s record. And remember that a vote for Matt Krause is a vote for Responsible Conservatism.
Texas House District 99 is ready for – and deserves – to be represented by someone with conservative principles who will vote accordingly.
